11 - Le chemin de fer de Laon et son tramway / The Laon Railway and its tramway

Le Poma 2000 , également appelé le Poma, a remplacé le chemin de fer laonnois ; c'est un système de transport guidé, léger, automatique sur pneus, dérivé de la technologie du funiculaire ; depuis 1989, ce moyen de transport fut opérationnel dans la ville de Laon, pour relier le quartier de la gare et la ville-haute. le transport d'un bout à l'autre ne durait que 5 minutes.

Le 26 août 2016, le Poma 2000 cessait de circuler à Laon, remplacé par un autobus. Ce véhicule automatique tracté, en service depuis 1989, témoin de l'inventivité des années 70-80 en matière de transports collectifs, constituait un compromis entre funiculaire et métro.

The Poma 2000, also called the Poma, has replaced the Laonnois railway; it is a guided, light, automatic transport system on tyres, derived from the technology of the funicular; since 1989, this means of transport was operational in the city of Laon, to connect the station district and the upper city. The transport from one end to the other lasted only 5 minutes.

On August 2016, 26th, the Poma 2000 stopped operating in Laon, replaced by a bus. This automatic towed vehicle, in service since 1989, witnessed the inventiveness of the 70s-80s in terms of public transport, constituted a compromise between funicular and metro.
