Un point kilométrique, abrégé par le sigle PK, est une marque ou repère utilisé pour localiser un point le long d'une voie de transport (ferrée, routière, navigable) qui est calculée en mesurant en kilomètres la portion de voie comprise entre le point localisé et un point zéro propre à chaque voie, servant d'origine du repère.

Le point kilométrique (PK) est utilisé pour repérer rapidement et précisément un lieu ou une installation sur une voie ferrée.

L'origine du kilométrage (PK 0,000), correspond à une gare terminus ou de bifurcation. Les points kilométriques sont matérialisés sur le terrain par des panonceaux kilométriques et hectométriques latéraux qui permettent au personnel et aux conducteurs de se repérer facilement le long de la ligne.

 A kilometre point, abbreviated to KP, is a mark or marker used to locate a point along a transport route (railway, road, waterway) which is calculated by measuring in kilometres the section of the route between the located point and a zero point specific to each route, serving as the origin of the marker. 

The kilometre point (KP) is used to quickly and accurately locate a place or facility on a railway line.

The origin of the kilometre (PK 0.000) corresponds to a terminus or junction station. Kilometre points are marked on the ground by kilometre and hectometre signs on the side of the track, which enable staff and drivers to easily locate themselves along the line.

Le block automatique à permissivité restreinte, ou BAPR, est un système de signalisation ferroviaire utilisé en France sur les lignes à trafic moyen. Il vise à assurer un espacement suffisant entre les convois circulant dans le même sens sur une voie ferrée donnée, afin d'empêcher qu'un convoi rattrape le précédent. 

Le BAPR a été créé pour permettre d'automatiser le cantonnement sur les lignes à trafic moyen, où le block automatique lumineux (BAL) aurait été trop coûteux. 


Automatic block signalling with restricted permissibility, (block automatique à permissivité restreinte in french : BAPR) is a railway signalling system used in France on medium-traffic lines. It aims to ensure sufficient spacing between trains travelling in the same direction on a given railway line, in order to prevent one train from catching up with the one in front.

The BAPR was created to enable automation of block signalling (block automatique lumineux in french : BAL) on medium-traffic lines, where automatic block signalling (BAL) would have been too costly.

 Le signal d'entrée en canton se présente sous la forme d'un panneau oblong comportant un feu rouge (sémaphore), parfois deux feux rouges (carré) et un feu vert (voie libre). Le signal d'avertissement est constitué d'un feu jaune présenté sur un panneau circulaire à plaque d'identification A (noir sur fond blanc). 

The signal indicating entry into a block section takes the form of an oblong panel with a red light (semaphore), sometimes two red lights (square) and a green light (clear track). The warning signal consists of a yellow light on a circular panel with an A identification plate (black on a white background).
