Au cours d'une première mission en Yougoslavie, j'ai découvert les chemins de fer de ce pays tout juste sorti de la guerre des Balkans. Les chemins de fer de Bosnie-Herzégovine sont exploités par deux compagnies gérant à la fois l'exploitation et l'infrastructure :
- Les Željeznice Federacije Bosne i Herzégovine (ŽFBH), basés à Sarajevo, pour les lignes situées
dans les zones d'influence croates et bosniaques musulmanes.
- Les Željeznice Republika Srpske (ŽRS), basés à Doboj, pour la zone d'influence serbe dans le
nord-ouest du pays.
Le réseau ferroviaire en Bosnie-Herzgovine comporte environ 630 km de voies ferrées, dont la plupart au départ de Sarajevo.

During a first mission in Yugoslavia, I discovered the railways of this country just out of the Balkan war. The railways of Bosnia and Herzegovina are operated by two companies managing both the operation and the infrastructure:
- The Željeznice Federacije Bosne i Herzegovina (ŽFBH), based in Sarajevo, for the lines
in areas of Croatian and Bosnian Muslim influence.
- The Željeznice Republika Srpske (ŽRS), based in Doboj, for the Serbian zone of influence in the
northwest of the country.
The railway network in Bosnia-Herzgovina has about 630 km of railway lines, most of them from Sarajevo.
- Sarajevo to Mostar: 130 km - Sarajevo to Capljina: 160 km - Sarajevo to Banja Luka: 280 km - Tuzla to Doboj: 60 km.
Gare de Čapljina
Čapljina est située dans le canton d'Herzégovine-Neretva. Le fleuve côtier Neretva, qui se jette dans la mer Adriatique, traverse la ville. C’est au hasard d’une patrouille en ville que j’en ai découvert la gare. A l’intérieur, j’ai eu la surprise d’y trouver une automotrice en attente de départ vers Mostar, une motrice électrique « haut-le-pied » et en attente, une antique rame de « boîtes à tonnerre » attelée à une autre motrice électrique.
Čapljina is located in the canton of Herzegovina-Neretva. The coastal river Neretva, which flows into the Adriatic Sea, crosses the city. It was at random from a patrol in town that I discovered the station. Inside, I was surprised to find a self-propelled car waiting to leave for Mostar, a «top-of-the-foot» electric motor and waiting, an antique train of «thunder boxes» coupled to another electric motor.

J’ai découvert ce pont en bordure de route, entre Mostar et Sarajevo, en bordure de la Neretva , pont « à priori » détruit durant la bataille du nom de ce fleuve (de janvier à mars 1943), pont recensé comme « Ensemble commémoratif de la bataille de la Neretva », mais après plus de 60 ans dans cette position, ce pont ferroviaire me semble plus qu’en bon état … De plus, j’ai récemment vu un documentaire historique sur Tito, au cours duquel il avait été filmé assistant à des prises de vues pour un film lui étant consacré dans les années 1970 (La cinquième offensive, avec Richard Burton dans le rôle de Tito) et dans l’une des prises de vues, on pouvait voir filmer la destruction d’un pont métallique ressemblant beaucoup à celui-ci … Dans l’axe du pont, sur le versant est, sont posés quelques rails, avec dessus en « pot de fleur », une vapeur et un fourgon, le tout en voie étroite.
On the road from Mostar to Sarajevo: the Jablanica bridge.
I discovered this bridge on the roadside, between Mostar and Sarajevo, on the edge of the Neretva, bridge «a priori» destroyed during the battle of the name of this river (from January to March 1943), bridge listed as «Commemorative Ensemble of the Battle of the Neretva», but after more than 60 years in this position, this railway bridge seems to me more than in good condition… In addition, I recently saw a historical documentary about Tito, in which he was filmed as a camera assistant for a film devoted to him in the 1970s (The Fifth Offensive, with Richard Burton as Tito) and in one of the shots, One could see the destruction of a metal bridge very similar to this one… In the axis of the bridge, on the eastern slope, are laid some rails, with top in «flower pot», a steam and a van,
all in narrow track.
