Il y a 146 ans, en France, entrée en vigueur du plan Freycinet. Ce plan prévoit la construction de dizaines de lignes de chemin de fer d'intérêt local afin de donner accès au chemin de fer à tous les Français. Il prévoit la construction d'un réseau de voies ferrées de 16 000 km, dont 8 700 km de lignes d’intérêt local. La réalisation de ce plan dura jusqu’en 1914 et fut pratiquement entièrement réalisé.

Malheureusement, les différents politiques qui se sont succédés, ainsi que l'arrivée en masse après la Seconde Guerre mondiale de l'automobile et du transport du fret par camions, ont détruit les petites lignes. On avait construit 16.000 km de lignes. On en a détruit 16.000 moins d'un siècle plus tard.
146 years ago, in France, the Freycinet plan came into force. This plan provides for the construction of dozens of local railway lines in order to provide access to the railway to all French people. It provides for the construction of a railway network of 16,000 km, including 8,700 km of local lines. The implementation of this plan lasted until 1914 and was practically completely realized.
